Is an Old Tattoo Haunting Your New Life?

Published on: February 23, 2015

It’s become a common scenario: a person decides to get a tattoo, then years or even weeks later, regrets the decision. It could be a lapse in judgment or just a poorly done piece of work. Whatever the reason, that seemingly permanent reminder can haunt your life. If you have a tattoo that you wish was gone, there are cosmetic solutions to aid in your plight.

Tattoo Removal Options

For anyone with a regrettable tattoo, there are options to remove and erase that skin art. Although a tattoo can take only a short period of time and a small amount of money to have done, the removal process is a bit more extensive. However, it’s possible through two different procedures offered by some experienced dermatology specialists.

  • Laser removal. For many tattoos, laser therapy is the best solution. This is a multiple session treatment, with many dermatologists choosing to use the Cool Guide laser. In as little as 4-5 sessions, a tattoo can be removed, with more sessions needed for certain colors and larger tattoos.
  • Surgical removal. In some cases, a surgical removal of the tattoo is a better option. This can be used for very color-dense tattoos, which aren’t always effectively removed through laser technology. It is also quicker, although there is a healing period after the surgery.

There’s no need to live with tattoos which no longer represent the person you are now. If you have one or more tattoos causing you embarrassment or distress, you should consult your local dermatology clinic. They may have viable options to help you remove these old mementos and help you move on with your life.
