Cheek Augmentation

Published on: September 15, 2014

The face. It’s typically what defines you; how people picture you in their minds when they think of you. For many of us, we wish that the picture they conjured up was a bit different. Many people are unhappy about the appearance of their face. They feel as though they look tired or droopy or boring, or worst of all – old. Cheek augmentation, also referred to as cheek implants, are a way to enhance the youthful appearance of one’s face. By making the cheeks look fuller, the face looks younger and can help to balance other facial features.

Cheek augmentation has safely been in use since 1956. Before that time, many people were trying different methods to achieve the desire they wanted, but were unsuccessful. They went through face lifts, but were unable to achieve the desired Hollywood, high cheekbone profile. Today, there are options for enhancing the cheeks of the face.

Malar implants are placed directly on the cheekbones for a more dramatic, high-profile appearance (think 1950s Hollywood).

Submalar implants are done to make the cheeks look fuller, to round out the face for a more youthful appearance.

Combined implants are done when augmentation is performed on both the cheekbones and the cheeks.

It is not uncommon for cheek augmentation to be combined with other facial plastic surgery procedures such as a facelift, eye lift, or rhinoplasty.

There are options available if you wish to enhance the appearance of your face. Talk with your surgeon about the changes you desire.
